HELP! My Granddaughter being teased in Kindergarten?

My beautiful granddaughter just started Kindergarten. She has to wear gles, which she loved before last week. She is hiding them, saying she lost them, in hopes she can go without them. When Mommy told her she HAS to wear them she said, "Well the kids at my table are saying, "what are you blind or something?", and it really hurts my feelings." Need suggestions in how to deal with the little BRATS, before this mean theme continues.
